## Job Description Summary
The Department of Art and Art History in the College of Arts and Sciences at Oakland University seeks applicants for a full-time Associate Professor of Graphic Design. The successful applicant must have broad knowledge of the field, as well as an understanding of the history and critical theory of design, with the ability to articulate these ideas through personal design practice, theory, and research. Active service record and community engagement is expected. Applicants must demonstrate post-secondary teaching experience with appropriate student portfolios.
Experience in directing an undergraduate program is highly desirable, as this position will include this duty. A strong record of publication, presentations, and scholarly professional work is preferred, as well as a record of professional graphic design experience. We seek candidates who have experience and a thorough knowledge of graphic design. Primary course to be taught will be all levels of DES courses, such as typography and motion graphics, and including the history and theory of graphic design.
Additional responsibilities will consist of directing and supervising part-time faculty, faculty sponsoring for the graphic design student organization, and internship coordination of graphic design students. Proficiency in current design software/applications is expected; knowledge in responsive design is desired; experience with 3D modeling and 3D printing a plus.
## Minimum Qualifications
MFA degree in Graphic Design or related field
Associate Professor rank with tenure at four-year degree institution.
Excellence in teaching at undergraduate level.
National record on creative and intellectual activities
National record on service activities.
