Manufacturing Engineer-

Prestigious Tier 1 Automotive Supplier located in the Rochester Hills, Mi. area has an opening for an experienced -Manufacturing Engineer with some Quality Engineer experience. This is a Direct Hire-Permanent position an excellent salary and a wonderful benefits package.
Knowledge of and manufacturing experience with Plastics Injections or extrusion is required.
Salary range: $60,000-$70,000

Key Areas of Responsibility
Interface with the customer and suppliers on quality related issues.
Lead the problem solving activity for internal and external (customer and supplier) related quality issues, in compliance with the Business Operating System and supporting documentation.
Establish and maintain PPAP / APQP documentation to ensure it meets customer and AIAG requirements and applicable team members are properly trained. Facilitate communication between shifts on documentation changes/ updates.
Comply with the Business Operating System, Quality methodologies, company and department objectives and business practices to ensure productivity and quality goals are achieved.
Support production in reducing / eliminating equipment and tooling downtime or scrap, utilizing good analytical methodologies.
Create & maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, Standard Operating Procedures and Line Balance documentation.
Meet or exceed labor content standards utilizing good assembly methodologies and ergonomics.
Support and maintain error-proofing methodologies, cell layout enhancements and update Master CAD layouts.
Take part or facilitate the team Lean strategies and methodologies and/or Six Sigma activities.
Facilitate process/continued improvement. Conduct time studies
Support, cost estimate and document all engineering changes.
Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems. Implement interim processes as required to correct or contain all non-conformances.
Working knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and equipment (PLC, torque tools and equipment).

Limits of Authority
Advise Department Manager of those situations that may pose a significant risk to the program, product assurance, facilities and employee safety or customer satisfaction results.
Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems.
Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process or system
Approve Supplier Part Submission documentation and corrective action plans, including DMN's.
Maintain and obtain approvals for facility layouts and process documentation.

Basic Education, Experience and Training Requirements
2 year minimum college education.
At least 3 years in automotive manufacturing environment as inspector or quality supervisor
Minimum of 1 year experience in supplier & customer related quality engineering role.
Minimum of 1 year experience in AQP on new products in automotive industry.
Core tools ( PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP)
Demonstrate competency in metrology, blueprint reading, statistical techniques and color/appearance measurement.
Posse's color and /or appearance testing approval for product inspection.
Minimum 1-2 years related experience in manufacturing and assembly operations.
Skills in labor analysis (time studies).
Auto CAD experience.
PLC understanding.
Skills in Windows applications (Excel 2010, Word 2010, Project, Management, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes).
Possess excellent leadership abilities, organizational and communication skills.
Able to maintain confidential information.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
