Summary
On behalf of our client, Belcan has been given opportunity to source new talent to add to their engineering team.
We are seeking a Hydraulic and Engine Hose Application Engineer for our client located in Rochester Hills, MI.
The Hydraulic and Engine Hose Application Engineer will provide engineering service to strategic OEM customers and clients in the proper application and selection of Fluid Power, hydraulic, industrial and engine hose and connector products.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Product Application - Communicates appropriate product technical details to meet system performance requirements using available tools and guidelines. Communicates new customer product requirements to stakeholders.
Customer Technical Representative - Lead technical customer presentations, meetings and conference calls. Present customer safe hydraulics training and hose assembly/crimper training.
VEVA - Value Engineering / Value Analysis -Review hose system with goal to reduce system costs, number of parts, weight or improve performance.
Warranty - Investigate, and resolve customer questions and application issues.
Plumbing - Required on occasion to build and assemble hose assembly on customer mobile equipment, requiring the use of tools, company special devices, and climbing in and around
vehicles
. They may also be tied with a VEVA activity.
Position Requirements/Competencies:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
BS/BA or equivalent
A minimum of 8 years' experience.
5 years of progressive fluid power experience.
Field experience is a plus.
ITAR compliance.
Ability to analyze application requirements, provide failure analysis, select components and make recommendations to meet system requirements.
Engineering discipline with a focus on Mechanical and Fluid Power systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Competency in drawing interpretation, spreadsheet analysis database research and presentation skills.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer personalities effectively and timely.
Excellent written and verbal skills - coupled with the ability to maintain and generate product application literature, media, and technical articles.
Ability to travel to customers, plants and conferences as required (25 to 50%).
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20-40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee may work in customer manufacturing or field environments.
Travel will vary based on employee home base and customer location - 25% to 50% (+) travel may be required. Must be able to work in testing or field environment and operate various components to test, evaluate and provide feedback on Gates products function and performance.
