POSITION SUMMARY This position furthers the mission of OPC by ensuring a clean, safe and well-maintained facility and environment during evening and Saturday hours.
This position works with participants and volunteers in activities, programs and events that promote and enrich a healthy life.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serves as the supervisor in charge of the facility during evening and Saturday hours.
Provides customer service, security, safety, and monitoring of scheduled activities.
Prepares aquatic & fitness areas and equipment for upcoming activities.
Schedules and communicates regularly with lifeguards.
Fills in for Lifeguards as needed.
Oversees program activities to ensure compliance with safety and facility policies.
Guides patrons to follow rules in a fair and consistent manner.
Remains calm in all situations.
Reports any unusual or notable incidents to the Supervisor.
Completes department paperwork for the finance department.
Reports and documents any accidents or incidents.
Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
Secures building at close of business.
Responds to questions from patrons.
Other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT
Qualifications:
High School diploma and one year of experience in a recreational, community center, or related capacity.
An Associates degree or equivalent coursework in Recreation, Public Administration or related field may substitute for one year experience.
Certified Lifeguard or ability to obtain within 4 weeks of hire (in-house training provided, and must pass the Lifeguard test).
Must successfully pass criminal background check and possess a valid State of Michigan Driver's License Aquatics, lifeguard, aquatics supervisor, fitness coordinator, fitness manager, wellness coordinator.
